All VHP tableware has its own unique character, and the range is constantly growing and changing. The work is functional stoneware ranging from expresso cups to casserole dishes, cheeseboards and fabulous large jugs. It is all thrown on the potters wheel and very high fired making the pots durable (dishwasherproof!) and usable in the kitchen. Dave has always aimed to give his pots a minimalist feel with clean lines and the criteria that form follows function. Emphasised throwing lines and curled handles have become trademarks.
Vinegar Hill Pottery's recent work include some fabulous one off exhibition pieces, a fantastic range of striped cream tableware, seed head design pieces and his wood fired range. The wood fired work is a labour of love: fired in a kiln Dave built himself and takes 3 days to fire. These pots reflect the flames from the fire on the burnished terracotta pot, with the top of each piece glazed in a chun glaze, a smoky pale blue. Each piece is stamped on the bottom with the VHP sign.
We do accept commissions – so if you have an idea for a piece (as long as it can be made on the potters wheel!) do get in touch.
Dave regularly exhibits VHP work at exhibitions and galleries around the country.
