It doesn't matter how much potting experience you have - total beginner or happy hobby potter - Dave has plenty of time to tutor each individual during the pottery workshops, and so the making schedule can be flexible. As Dave is a thrower, a large part of the three day pottery workshop will be spent on the potters wheel learning the basic throwing techniques.

Three Day Pottery Course / Workshop

Our three day pottery workshop takes place in our brand new pottery studio in Milford on Sea, Hampshire.

Day 1: On the first morning you will learn how to centre a pot and make a cylinder and opening them up into bowls. The afternoon is spent making your raku vessels for raku firing on the last day.

Day 2: The day includes the finishing of the raku pots, learning to make handles, spouts and plate making in the afternoon. You will help Dave to pack and fire a kiln. There is also time to work on your own projects if you wish.

Day 3: The last day is spent unloading the kiln, learning how to glaze your raku pots and doing a couple of raku firing sessions. You can take your raku fired pots home with you, whilst the rest of your work can be fired and glazed by Dave and sent to you if you wish.

Pottery tuition begins at 9am and we stop at about 11am for a coffee break (homemade cake provided!). We then work until 1pm when we stop for a delicious seasonal lunch. Back to the studio at 2pm to 4pm, when formal pottery tuition ends, although you can work on if you wish. We do not provide dinner on a nightly basis but there are plenty of great places to eat out in the village, from haute cuisine to fish and chips.

Why not stay at our fabulous accommodation? We can also help you find local hotels and B&Bs within Milford, so please just get in touch.
