The Pottery Team

In January 2007 Dave, his wife, Lucy, and their young family moved back to the New Forest and set up Vinegar Hill Pottery in Milford on Sea. 25 years of throwing pots day in and day out, he is now truly a master of his craft, and has even developed the infamous potters nod as he works!

We now have 3 additional potters working at Vinegar Hill, making a great team. Between them they enable VHP to function as it does, as a working Pottery and pottery school, sharing the love of making pots with you!

Dave

Dave

DAVE is originally from Lymington. He has a degree in Ceramics from Farnham Art College where he also worked in the local pottery. A professional potter since 1997, he worked mainly in Bristol where he set up and ran his own Artists Studios, and exhibited his work all at galleries and shows all over the country.

Isil

Isil

ISIL is our fabulous Turkish bundle of fun. With a degree in ceramics from her traditionally artistically inspired homeland, she is a fantastic addition to the studio and an old hand with all things ceramic. Supremely talented with the decorating and glazing of our pots (Queen of the Stripes) she will also be running many of the kids workshops.

Emma

Emma

We do know that really, EMMA would like to be sailing all of the time, but when she is on dry land she dedicates some of her time to us. An apprentice thrower, she is wonderfully gifted at design work from the delicate seed head design to the more technical side of the decals used on many of the one off pieces we produce, and she is an integral and much valued part of the VHP team.

Julie

Julie

JULIE is the studios secret weapon. The most recent to join the team she is an art teacher by trade and will be running our kids afterschool clubs. She brings us hard work, lots of fantastic ideas, and continual optimism and chat!
